Key Absences
Mansfield Town will be without at least four senior players when they travel to Peterborough United for Saturday’s League One opener. Both forwards, David McGoldrick and Tyler Roberts, have been ruled out of the match-day squad and are expected to miss the game for a two-week period.
Midfield and Defensive Gaps
Midfielder George Maris was substituted off in the first half of the EFL Trophy match against Manchester City U21 after picking up a knock. His fitness will be assessed before the Posh fixture. Baily Cargill and Luke Bolton have yet to feature this season; Bolton is likely to return after the first international break.
Uncertain Availability
Jordan Bowery, 35, has not been named in any of Nigel Clough’s match-day squads and is not training, according to Andy Garner. Garner said, “For some reason he isn’t training, so we will go and look at that. He might just be leaving it today and hopefully be alright for tomorrow, but I’m not sure about that one.” Bowery’s fitness remains uncertain as the club monitors his training.
