Mansfield Town Transfer News: Will Evans Leaves for Plymouth Argyle

Mansfield Town has lost striker Will Evans to Plymouth Argyle, who signed him for a reported £400,000 on a two-year deal with a club option of a further year. This is the club's seventh addition of the transfer window.

Evans, 29, hails from Llangedwyn in Powys and is an ex-Llanfyllin High School student. He started his football journey at Shrewsbury Town's youth academy before moving to Cardiff Metropolitan University. He went on to play in the Cymru Premier League for Bala Town before earning a move into the English Football League.

At Newport County, Evans made 107 appearances and scored 29 goals before his transfer to Mansfield Town in August 2024. During his time with the Stags, he scored 25 times in 98 games, including a memorable goal against Premier League champions Arsenal.

Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley said he has been following Evans' progress for some time. Cleverley said: "He is quick, aggressive and a tireless runner offering both an outlet in behind but also an ability to play different positions."

Derek Adams, Argyle's director of football, also welcomed the new signing. Adams said: "Will is an excellent addition to the squad we are assembling. He has vast experience at League One level and proved to be a real threat when we came up against him last season."

League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 10th in League One, 65 pts, 16W-17D-13L from 46 games, recent form WDWWD.
