Mansfield Town Football Club has received planning approval for a significant expansion of its academy facilities. The BBC reported that Mansfield District Council gave the green light for new developments at the Radford & Hymas training site this week.

Mansfield currently sit 11th in League One with three points from their opening two matches. They face third-placed Luton at home on 30 August, a game that could see them close the three-point gap to leaders Bradford.

What does the academy expansion involve?

The approved plans include constructing an indoor pitch, an outdoor pitch with lighting, a gym building, and two new car parks. According to planning documents seen by the BBC, the development aims to support the club's growth at all levels and promote healthier lifestyles locally. The report stated the project would deliver material benefits through investment in sports infrastructure.

Mansfield Town originally opened the Radford & Hymas facility in 2016 and purchased additional land nearby in 2023. The new facilities are intended to make optimal use of a site operating below its potential. Club officials believe the development will set an example of high-quality sports facilities in an area that has seen limited investment.

Which new partners have joined the club?

Mansfield Town announced two new commercial partnerships this week. Sutton Auto Factors, a local car and van parts supplier, has become a bronze partner for the 2026/27 season. The company, which is approaching its 55th anniversary, will use LED advertising boards at One Call Stadium to reach the local community.

Director Alan Wells told the club's official website they were proud to partner with the Stags at a time when the club is doing so well. Head of commercial Michael Bradley welcomed the partnership, noting Sutton Auto Factors' strong reputation built over five decades. You can see the full commercial team on our squad page.

Who won the North Stand sponsorship?

Local mechanical engineering firm MJE Projects won the annual 250 Club draw, securing sponsorship of the North Stand for the upcoming season. The family-run company, led by Mike and Karen Emerson, designs and installs conveyor systems across Nottinghamshire.

Karen Emerson said they were absolutely delighted to see their name on the North Stand as long-standing Stags supporters. Sixty-eight businesses entered this year's draw, which also awarded prizes like West Stand LED advertising to Tim Wall Leisure and a signed ball and shirt to Park Lane. Michael Bradley called it a fantastic opportunity for exclusive stand sponsorship.

What is the club's current form?

Mansfield Town have scored three goals and conceded three in their opening League One fixtures, giving them a neutral goal difference. Their recent form shows a win followed by a loss as they prepare for their next home game. The team's current position and upcoming schedule can be tracked on our standings and fixtures pages.

The academy expansion represents a long-term investment in the club's future, while the commercial partnerships provide immediate support for the first-team campaign. With key fixtures approaching, these developments arrive as Mansfield look to build momentum in the early season.
