Mansfield used a steady ground game and timely defense to pull away from Cornell, 27-13, in a Collegiate Sprint Football League matchup on Saturday afternoon at Karl Van Norman Field. The Mountaineers improved to 4-1 (2-0 CSFL), while the Big Red dropped to 0-5 (0-3 CSFL). Weston Bellows powered Mansfield with 170 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries, while Marcus Quaker threw for 102 yards and two scores. Leo Madera caught seven passes for 112 yards for Cornell. Jason Milo led Cornell's defense with 16 tackles, and Dylan Leaird added 13. The Mountaineers extended their lead with a pair of quick touchdowns - a 17-yard rush and a 31-yard pass from Marcus Quaker to Matt Machmer - to make it 20–6 heading to the fourth. Andrew Lay hauled in a 3-yard scoring pass from Stefano Luis late in the final period to cap the Big Red's scoring. Luis completed 23-of-33 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown. The contest will be broadcast on the CACC Network. This will be the sixth all-time meeting between the programs, with the Cougars leading 3-2 thanks to its active three-game win streak. Caldwell won the last matchup between the teams 16-14 on Sept. 15, 2023 in New Jersey.
